“It was a privilege to be at the Requiem Mass for Bishop Mullins today. As I said to you I have fond memories of the wise advice and arrangements he helped me with leading up to the visit of St John Paul II to Cardiff in 1982.
“As a Welsh learner, I look back with fondness to sitting his study in Penarth and seeing all these books on Welsh language and history, the memory of which makes me so keen to improve my fluency in the language. He was an inspiration.
“In his Homily Bishop Mark said that Bishop Daniel was the longest serving bishop in England and Wales. He must have been from 1970-2019.”
